2020 saw the rise of short videos and Music Challenges due to the lockdown and the coronavirus pandemic. Nigerian songs were not left out of these Challenges.

There was a time when in order to promote their songs, Nigerian Artists like Olamide, Zlatan, Naira Marley, and others would create or popularize dance routines, now trending Social media Challenges are now the new deal.

Now, a lot of Nigerian songs have challenges created for it either by their artist or fans. From the Slo-Mo challenge to the Buss It challenges, Nigerians are creating mind-blowing content on a daily basis with music.

In this article, we would be highlighting Nigerian songs that are trending in the Nigerian music space due to challenges.

Yemi Alade ft Falz- Single and Searching

This is an old song, released in 2017 and featuring Falz, the song resurfaced in 2020 causing a storm on social media especially Tiktok where it currently has more than 46 million views.

Olamide ft Omah Lay- Infinity

Off Olamide’s “Carpe Diem”, “Infinity” features 2020 breakout star, Omah Lay. The song became popular on social media after the popularity of the Slow-mo dance.

Naira Marley- Koleyewon

Naira Marley has dominated the streets for years and always knows how to popularize streets with dance routines and songs. However, with the release of “Koleyewon”, fans decided to switch things up by creating an original challenge for it. The challenge borrows elements from the trending Slow-Mo challenge and spices it up.

Teni – Case

Teni released “case” in 2018 which was an instant hit and shot her to popularity. However, a Disc Jockey by the name Official 679 Muziikk Fj made an EDM remix of the song which is now popular on social media especially Tiktok

Kizz Daniel- Nesesari

Just like Yemi Alade’s “Single and Searching”, Kizz Daniel’s “Nesesari” is an old song, released in 2018 of his Sophmore album, “No Bad Songz”. The song seems to one of the old songs people on social media are digging up to create challenges with.
